Where Jesus Is Lord!

INSIGHT

Those who followed Jesus only for loaves and fishes or to be healed could never experience authentic discipleship. In our own lives, true discipleship requires abandoning our own agenda and yielding to His will (John 6:22-40).

Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Jesus Christ is more than a system, tradition, or belief. He is a Person who knows our needs, feels our pain, and sympathizes with our weakness.

Christ Is Someone To Know And Trust
Jesus Christ is more than a system, tradition, or belief. He is a Person who knows our needs, feels our pain, and sympathizes with our weakness. In exchange for our trust, He offers to forgive our sins, to intercede for us, and to bring us to His Father. He cried for us, died for us, and rose from the dead to show that He was all He claimed to be. Conquering death, He showed us that He can save us from our sins, live His life through us on earth, and then bring us safely to heaven. He offers Himself as a gift to anyone who will trust and follow Him ( John 20:24-31).

John 20:24-31 (New International Version, ©2011)

Jesus Appears to Thomas

24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”

But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”

28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

The Purpose of John’s Gospel

30 Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. 31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

Internet Church is a slightly different than the modern day brick and mortar churches. In these churches, only the Pastor or Preacher/Teacher speaks and the people are mostly spectators.

Do you ever wonder what the born-again Christians sitting in the pews think and believe?

In 1 Corinthians 14:26 we are given one of the few glimpses of how they actually worshiped in the New Testament. When they gathered together everyone was expected to participate. "What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church." In this verse we see a church where people not only attended a worship service but were expected to contribute in some way. The worship service was not the place to be if someone wanted to be a spectator! It is no wonder the New Testament church experienced tremendous growth. This kind of participation is very different from what we have in most churches today.

With the advent of the Internet church, now every pew-sitting born-again can access the world via the Internet right in their home. Discovering that there is quite a difference of opinion of the meaning of scriptures among these pew-sitting born-again Christians who have their computers hooked up to the Internet. We can post things about the Bible from our homes, ask questions, give opinions and interact with other Christians all over the world 24/7/365 and not just on Sundays and Wednesdays. The denominational walls are coming down as one really don’t know what denomination you are, or even if you are in a certain denomination.

Overall, we believe that the LORD God of Israel is DELIGHTED with the Internet Church and with the electronic Bibles. Click hereand give it a try.

  • Christians who are "drop outs" of the Institutionalized Christian church, for whatever reason, and desire some outside stimulation for spiritual growth.

  • People who are "housebound" or are physically unable to attend a traditional church.

  • People who have tired of the traditional church environment consisting of an emphasis on: collecting money, building a pastoral empire, church building programs, and multi-layered church programs that dilute the call to know Jesus personally.

  • Christians who are in a church but believe they are not being fed on the truths of the Bible.

  • People who are single, single parents or married couples who want a method of introducing biblical teaching into their lives on a flexible schedule (one that you determine rather than the institution of church determines).

  • The non-Christian, a method is provided whereby they may examine the claims of Christ and either decide in a positive manner to accept what He has said about Himself in the Scriptures as truth, or to reject who He said He was and is today.

  • Those who may have a church in their home, or are participating in a home church setting and are looking for study materials to be used in conjunction with their home church activities.

  • Those in the church who have not yet been released to function under the headship of Christ without the use of intermediaries and hierarchical control.

"Consumer Christianity"

Read: Luke 9:18-26
If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. —Luke 9:23

In his book The Empty Church, historian Thomas C. Reeves says: "Christianity in modern America . . . tends to be easy, upbeat, convenient, and compatible. It does not require self-sacrifice, discipline, humility, an otherworldly outlook, a zeal for souls, a fear as well as love of God. There is little guilt and no punishment, and the payoff in heaven is virtually certain. What we now have might best be labeled 'Consumer Christianity.' The cost is low and customer satisfaction seems guaranteed."

If we were only customers of Almighty God, we could be selective in our faith and reject anything we didn't like. But that's not an idea we get from Jesus. He pointed us to a cross, not to a spiritual check-out counter. He said: "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it" (Luke 9:23-24). Christ died on a cross for our sins, not for our satisfaction. And He calls us to trust in Him, then follow Him with a life of self-denial.

In a world where the customer is always right, it takes radical obedience to God to keep from buying into "Consumer Christianity." —David McCasland

When Jesus said to follow Him
Regardless of the cost,
He promised He would surely give
Much more than would be lost. —Sper

Following Jesus is not always easy, but it's always right

What It Means To Know Jesus Christ

Mark 8:34-38 (King James Version)

And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever (anyone that) will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Since this is Jesus himself speaking in this passage then we know He is speaking the truth. He expects us to deny ourselves and follow Him. Which would mean we place Him first in our life. Not second third or so on.

The first commandment is "You shall have no other gods before me" Exodus 20:2-3 This alone with the above passage tells us God wants our full attention. He does not say, "Your Pastor should put me first and deny himself" he says, "Whosoever (anyone that) will come after me, let him deny himself," So we are each individually to put God first in our lives. Not just when we are in Church, but the entire day, everyday.

If one reads the entire bible and opens theirs eyes they will see that the whole bible points to Jesus Christ and it is about knowing Him. So if one claims to be a follower of Jesus Christ and that they know Him, they will do as He teaches.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently (constant in effort) seek (to go in search or quest of ) Him. - Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)

This is not about casual reading of the bible and going to Church. There are many, many people that go to Church every Sunday that do not know Jesus Christ and will bust hell wide open. (See www.lostinchurch.com for more information about that.) Knowing Jesus Christ is not about going to Church, following a Pastor, and walking the aisle. It is about seeking Him with all your heart yourself. If you do this you will find Him and then you will know Him.

There is no push button thing you can do for salvation. The bible says we MUST be born-again. That is a process and if you are born-again your live will start changing and you will put Jesus Christ first in your life. Not just know about Him or think you purchased a ticket to heaven and you have it somewhere in a drawer.

We are to walk and live by faith and endure until the very end (Matt. 10.22). If you are saved you will love and put Jesus first in your life. That is how you know if you are born-again. Your life changes it’s focus and it then becomes about knowing Jesus.

My life is my example. I knew about Jesus Christ and believe He was real since I was 12 years old and even walked the aisle at a Church and was baptized. But that is not what Jesus said to do if you want to know Him. He said one must "deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." That is not what I did. I just attended Church for a while and never diligently sought Him (I believe this happens to a lot of people that have a push button mentality). I soon stopped going to Church because of the hypocrisy and thought it must just be some sort of game people like to play. I don’t think I was saved at that time because of the following:

We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

1 John 2:3-6 (NIV)

He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him. - John 14:21

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. - Revelation 3:16 (KJV)

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. - Matthew 7:21-23 (KJV)

I am sure there are more verses but that is all I will list now.

But thank the Lord for a praying Mother at the age of 23 after years of drinking, parting and things I don’t want to think about or mention God let me know that He was real. I decided I had to know if Jesus was real, so I got on my knees and ask Him. Guess what? He let me know He was real. I started seeking Him. I did not come to know Him over night, for me it took some diligent seeking through bible study, prayer and talking to people that knew Him. Actually for me it took until I was 26 until I actually meet Him. I was enlightened to know that He was REAL and not just someone that people wrote about in the bible or people used to get your money or someone that was locked up in a Church building. He proved to me He was real and I have never been the same. It changed me and is still changing me at the age of 48. I no longer looked to Pastors or people as the ones who would tell me what God wanted for my life. If you do this it will not be long before they use you or let you down. I started looking directly to Jesus Christ who has never let me down and I have learned to live for Him and not for me. I have learned it is ALL about Him and not about me. Until we come to know that, whether we are Pastors, laypersons, Elders, Deacons, business owners or the President of the United States. We will not be saved. If we do not know Jesus Christ and deny ourselves and give Him the glory for what He has done for us. He has given His very life’s blood in our stead so we might live with Him forever throughout eternity. So until we come to know Him we will never know what salvation. It is not something you can get from a Pastor or anyone else. We must go to Jesus and seek after Him daily and then we will know the joy of salvation. We will then want to tell others of this salvation and will not rest until He calls us home, as we will know what it means to know and love Him. There is no mistake about people that know Him, they always want to talk about Him and no not just at Church but everywhere they go. Yes like your first love, you would talk about them until people were sick of hearing it and you never understood what was wrong with them. Jesus wants to be our first love today and everyday of our life and if you know Him you will want the same thing. If you don’t then you will just think I am crazy, but I really don’t care what people think. I care what God thinks and what God thinks will echo through out eternity.

So to me this is what it means to know Jesus. No knowing about Him but knowing Him personally.

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

1 Timothy 2:5-6 (KJV)

The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him - Psalm 25:14

And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. ~ Luke 9:62

Luke 13:24

Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

Until Jesus Christ is truly our Lord, we each have goals of our own which we serve. Our faith is real, but it is not yet permanent. And God is never in a hurry. If we are willing to wait, we will see God pointing out that we have been interested only in His blessings, instead of in God Himself. ~ Oswald Chambers

Many come to know Jesus as the Way. A few more go on to know Him as the Truth. But very few go on to know Him as their life. ~ Rick Joyner

Simon Greenleaf, one of the principle founders of the Harvard Law School, originally set out to disprove the biblical testimony concerning the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He was certain that a careful examination of the internal witness of the Gospels would dispel all the myths at the heart of Christianity. But this legal scholar came to the conclusion that the witnesses were reliable, and that the resurrection did in fact happen. What Do You Say?
The question you must answer is a simple one.

It's not, "What do you think of a certain religion?"
It's not, "What do you think of Christians?"
It's not, "What good works have you done lately?"
It's not, "What are the traditions of your church?"

The Question that stands between every human and God is this: "What are you going to do with Jesus?"

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6). Paul and Silas said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved" (Acts 4:12). And Paul said that "God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself" (2 Corinthians 5:19).

The message is clear: Faith in Jesus is the only way to God. So what are you going to do with Him? Will you allow a philosopher's deceiving words to make you mistrust the Savior? Will you let the musings of mere humans carry more weight than the message of Almighty God? Please don't. Take Jesus at His word. Put your faith in Him and believe that He gave His life as the sacrifice for your sins on the cross of Calvary. You'll find the joy that comes from being set free from the penalty and power of sin.

What will you do with Jesus? That' the most important question you will ever answer.

Today's Trends

“In the matter of changing religion, State favors are stronger than penalties.”

Montesquieu

The Framers of America's Founding Documents relied heavily upon the writings of the French political philosopher, Baron de Montesquieu. Typical of Montesquieu's brilliant insight, he once wrote that:

“A more certain way to attack religion is by favor, by the comforts of life, by the hope of wealth; not by what reminds one of it, but by what makes one forget it; not by what makes one indignant, but by what makes men lukewarm, when other passions act on our souls, and those which religion inspires are silent. In the matter of changing religion, State favors are stronger than penalties.”

“The IRS has succeeded in gagging Christians.”

gagged preacher

Rev. D. James Kennedy* has stated:

“The federal government has proved a tremendous impediment to the ongoing work of Christians. In all the laws that they have passed against Christian schools, gagging the church, taxation, and all kinds of things that they have done, they have made it harder for the church to exercise its prerogatives and to preach the gospel.

"Take the last presidential election. There were numbers of things that I knew that I was never able to say from the pulpit because if you advance the cause of one candidate or impede the cause of the other you can lose your tax exemption. That would have been disastrous not only for the church, but for our school and our seminary, everything. So you are gagged. You cannot do that. The IRS, a branch of our government, has succeeded in gagging Christians."

Acceptance of State favors has, indeed, had "disastrous" consequences on the churches in America. The church has been effectively silenced (or as Dr. Kennedy put it, "gagged"). Now the disastrous consequences are being felt by the entire nation.

Is there a remedy? Yes! The church can be re-empowered and regain the former glory and influence she once knew in America. But in order to do so the church must stop acting as an underling, as a subordinate, as a dependent, of the State. The church must cease asking for State favors.

Because that for his name’s sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles. (3John 1:7)

Dear Lord I want to thank you for all the blessings you've brought into our lives and especially thank you for bringing Charles into mine. Because of him I have never known such happiness and the love that feels my heart for this man is a kind I've never known. I know our lives are in your hands dear Lord, and we must all place our faith in you as you carry out your Will. I know it might be a lot to ask, but please take care of Charles as he prepares himself for this surgery, don't let anything or anyone steal his joy. And Lord, just one more thing. Please protect him and help him through to a complete recovery, I can't imagine my life without him and I believe you brought us together for a reason and I'd like the chance to carry out whatever plan you have for us. Thank you Lord, thank you for everything, for I truely feel blessed! In our Lord Jesus Name I Pray Amen Prayer count: 1

My ex Ethan calls me Mina. Right now regardless of the love between us, he is pursuing other females. My son (that is not biologically his) misses him terribly and is devastated. We are a perfect family and VERY happy, but Ethan refuses to acknowledge it even though it is apparent to anyone that is around us for barely 5 minutes. He has even gone so far as to be mean to me to try to deny it what is between us. I am asking you to please pray that he loses interest and desire for these other women and stops pursuing them. And that we can start fresh and rebuild our relationship with no barriers. Thank you. Prayer count: 6

Please pray that the letter I gave my wife yesterday will soften her heart to go to our senior pastor's wife for advice. Before I even knew if she would take the letter I suddenly thought to ask her to seek the pastor's wife's counsel. It happened while my atty was asking if she'd take it. When he came back I'd already written it on the envelope. I know if she is advised to seek counseling instead of a divorce by someone she trusts she will have a change of heart. I love her so much and want her to see what Jesus has done in my life in the last month in the hopes that she will let Him in too. I'm praying she'll contact me after church this Sunday. Satan is getting his grips on my family! Please pray!Mom has fatal lung disease and is having lots of complications.Aunt has cancer in her chest and given little hope.Brother has 2 blown discs in his back.Another brother avoids my mom almost all together and won't even give her the number to his cell phone. My boyfriends mom has a broken pelvis and none of his family will help her and they have layed the majority of it at his feet knowing he will help her if they won't.They use their daily lives as an excuse not to help as my one brother does with my family. My boyfriend and I have no time at all together due to the situation and our relationship is suffering because of it.Please pray for him and his family.I'm having trouble finding a permanent job.I was fired almost 2 years ago and have went through my savings and unemployment trying to stay afloat.I have only been able to find temporary work and that pays my rent. Then I pay 2 utility bills one month and the other 2 the next month to keep them from being shut off.I'm on medication that I can't buy for obvious reasons. The stress and depression and financial worries are wearing all of us down.We verbally fight and as for me,suicide has become a frequent thought in my mind and that has not been so for over 10 years!Help us Lord!
